These adorable alphabet books can be printed in color or black and white for your no English students as well as your kindergarten kiddos! Beginning consonants are colored blue and vowels are red to help your students notice the difference of the letter types, and the pictures are so cute (most of the graphics are from Graphics From The Pond with a few also from Creative Clips).
To get the most out of this book, teach your students to read it by letter, letter, sound, word while pointing. Using 'Zz' as an example, while pointing to each part say: "Z, z, zzz, zipper." When you teach students to read it this way, they will acquire a slew of skills to help with future reading (pointing one-to-one, noticing the letters while pointing, matching letter names to the letter sounds, using pictures to decode words when they forget, etc.)
As an alternative to a book, you can also use these as flashcards or coloring sheets for a literacy center or to help when assessing letter ID with students.
